Upscale projects represent the largest segment of California's hotel development pipeline, accounting for 84 of the 258 projects tracked by Lodging Development, followed by 61 upper-midscale and 38 upper-upscale projects. Among the projects currently tracked, the dual-branded Hyatt Place and Hyatt House San Diego Downtown stands out as one of the largest, with 560 rooms in final planning by developer J Street Space. Kam Sang Company's 500-room Nickelodeon Hotel in Garden Grove is an upper-upscale project currently in planning.
