The Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation (BBPDC) has received seven proposals for the development of a hotel and residential complex at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Among the more seasoned hotel developers offering proposals are Starwood Capital Group, Pritzker Realty Group and Extell Development.
In August, the BBPDC began soliciting proposals for a 170- to 225-room hotel and 150- to 180-unit residential building on a waterfront parcel known as the Pier I site.
Starwood Capital has proposed a 1 Hotel that would be developed in partnership with Alloy Development, Hamlin Ventures and Monadnock Development. Pritzker's proposal for a Hyatt hotel was offered in partnership with Dermot Company. Extell has proposed a Westin hotel.
Led by New York developer Gary Barnett, Extell is currently building two Hyatt hotels in Manhattan. Starwood Capital, led by former Starwood Hotels chairman Barry Sternlicht, announced the eco-fiendly 1 Hotel concept in 2006 but has yet to open a hotel under the brand.
Proposals were also submitted by Robert Levine of RAL Companies, which has a letter of interest from Starwood's Le Meridian Hotels; SDS Procida and Trans Inns Management, which have a letter of interest from Marriott's Autograph Collection; and Toll Brothers, which has partnered with Sant Singh Chatwal and Vikram Chatwal of Hampshire Hotels. The Toll Brothers project would be operated under the Chatwals' Dream hotel flag.
A proposal from Brooklyn-based Two Trees Management does not indicate a hotel partner.
